Brazilian rental terms, explained
Words you will see in listings and contracts in Brazil.
- Condomínio
- Monthly building fee for maintenance, security and shared areas. Paid on top of the rent.
- IPTU
- Yearly property tax, usually split into monthly payments. Paid by the tenant.
- Caução
- Security deposit held during the contract and returned at the end, according to the contract terms.
- Vistoria
- Inspection report with photos of the home, done when you move in and again when you move out.
- CPF
- Brazilian taxpayer number. Not required to start your rental with us.
- Contrato de locação
- The rental contract, signed for a long-term period.
